Norcent RW531 is LiteOn LTR-52327S

Date: 05 Dec 2003 00:03:35 GMT I just replaced an older LiteOn that I fried moving hardware around and bought at Best Buy, for $20 after rebate, the Norcent RW531 being pretty sure it was a LiteOn though I could not confirm that doing a Google Group search. Anyway it is a LiteOn LTR-52327S for those considering buying it. It replaced my fried LiteOn LTR-52246S and the difference between the two hardware wise is a slightly different face and it is much quieter opening and closing and a bit quieter running at full speed. The door also has up and down play apparently designed in to it to prevent damage from bumping it and it will close itself with very little pressure compared to the LTR-52246S. A very nice design change. Also the drive itself is about an inch shorter in length to take up less space inside your PC. Write and read performance initially appears the same as the LTR-52246S it replaced with no problems burning on the fly at 52X. I don't use RWs so I can't comment on that performance. Anyway I thought I would post this just in case it could be off use to someone else. If you have any questions e-mail me by removing the repetitive zbzbzb in my address as I don't normally read this group. Received on Thu Dec 04 2003 - 16:03:35 PST |
