InCD 4.0 - DVD and Mount Rainier

Having just installed INCD 4.0, I was surprised to discover in its manual, that it supports Mount Rainier on DVD+RW - but not on DVD-RW, where it will only format in 'standard' mode

Not that I particularly want to use packet writing on a DVD at all; but what is it that makes MRW only work with the one class of burner (not just a specific drive) and not the other?
